Warning for kitten owners

Hove firefighters are warning of the dangers of letting young kittens roam free too young after one moggy got stuck up a tree for more than a day.

The crew were first called out at 7.51pm on Saturday evening (18th August) after the animal was spotted by the Reverand at Holy Trinity Church, in Blatchington Road, Hove.

Firefighters were unable to rescue the feline due to the fading light and believed the pet would come down of its own accord. It was fed pieces of chicken until crews were able to get the kitten safely down the next day.

On Sunday evening firefighters returned and fought their way through a large amount of undergrowth to reach the black and white kitten with a ladder, which was still stuck high up in the tree

  3. So many fire services around the world no longer rescue cats stuck in trees. The standard answer tends to be "it'll come down when it get hungry". It's wonderful to hear of a Fire Station still willing to help the little, furry tree climbers who over estimate their abilities. Thank You from all the cat lover out there.
