Fire crews called to three road collisions

Lewes and Newhaven firefighters were called to a one-vehicle collision in Selmeston over the weekend.

Crews attended a crash along Common Lane, at 9.27am Sunday morning (2nd December) and remained there until 10.11am.

A woman and two children were all safely out of the vehicle when the crews arrived and the vehicle was made safe by firefighters at the scene.

The Highways Agency assisted in the gritting of the road afterwards, due to freezing conditions.

Meanwhile, the same day at 10.02am crews from Forest Row worked alongside East Grinstead firefighters at a road traffic collision in Homestall Road, Ashurstwood. They remained at the scene for just over an hour and cut the injured free from the wreckage of the two-vehicle collision. Both police and paramedics attended.

Later in the day crews were called to a two-vehicle road traffic incident along the A272, North Chailey, Haywards Heath at 7.44pm. Firefighters from Barcombe attended and remained at the scene until 8.56pm. Two people were involved in the crash but managed to free themselves before crews arrived. Both drivers were treated at the scene by South East Coast Ambulance Service and one person was subsequently taken to hospital. Haywards Heath & Barcombe firefighters remained at the scene to ensure the road was safe for other drivers.
