Uckfield firefighters attend Ringles Cross collision

Uckfield firefighters came to the rescue of a pick-up truck driver involved in a three-vehicle collision at Ringles Cross.
London Road was closed to other motorists on Saturday (5th January) as crews rescued the trapped truck driver.

Uckfield firefighters were called to the incident at 6.45pm and remained at the scene for more than an hour. The collision involved a van, a minibus and a pick-up truck, which ended up on its side.

Crews worked alongside a medical team stabilising the vehicle and using hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof and free the 36-year-old.

A long board was used to carry the injured man out of the truck to the ambulance.
 Watch Commander Ian Ritchie said:

“Although the man’s injuries were not thought to be serious, an accident of this nature had the potential to cause unseen injuries. He was taken to The Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, where he was treated.”

Sussex Police carried out an investigation of the incident and arrangements were made to recover the vehicle.
