Firefighters tackle fire at six storey building in St Leonards

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is tackling a fire at six storey building in St Leonards this morning (Sunday 28 July).

Crews were called out at 8.38am to reports of a fire at Marlborough House in Warrior Square.

Two people have been rescued from the homes.

As of 10.55am, at least fifty firefighters are at the scene. Ten pumps are in use, along with a water bowser, two aerial ladder platforms, a control unit and control team.

The aerial ladder platforms are being used to fight the fire from outside. Six breathing apparatus are in use by firefighers inside the building.Three main jets and foam are also in use.

The Red Cross' Fire Support Unit, the police and the ambulance service are also in attendance.

A further update will be given on our website at around 1pm.
