Gorse fire A21, Sedlescombe

On 26thAugust at 1.37pm, crews from Battle responded to a fire in a field off the A21, Sedlescombe. 

On arrival, crews confirmed the fire covered an area of stubble approximately 50m x 30m and involved three large bales of hay. Due to difficult access into the site, a Landrover from Hastings, the Ridge, was dispatched to assist crews. 

Firefighters used two hose reel jets along with beaters to bring the fire under control. The stop message was received by 3.38pm.

Firefighter, Clive York, said: “During this on-going period of warm weather, we are reminding members of the public to be extra vigilant with regard to combustible materials in the open.”
