Firefighters called out to recycling site in Lewes

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has been called out to a fire at a recycling and waste management site in Lewes.

The alarm was raised at 15.02 at Greystone Quarry.

Two shredding units, measuring approximately 10 metres by 20 metres, were on fire.

As of 17.00, six appliances were mobilised and are on site. Foam is being used to tackle the blaze and crews are using breathing apparatus.

The Environment Agency has also been alerted.
