One person freed after landslide

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called today (1st February 2014) at 12.15 to reports of someone trapped following a landslide in Hastings.

It is believed a rock fall behind a building in White Rock caused the collapse of the rear of the building and left the remainder of it in a dangerous state.

Four appliances, an aerial ladder platform and two technical rescue units attended, along with police and ambulance crews.

One person was rescued by firefighters.

There are concerns there could be further collapses, a cordon has been put in place and people are being asked to stay away.

As of 17.00 the A259 remained closed and drivers will need to find alternative routes.
