Strong winds overnight damage roof in St Leonards

Last night at 20:15 firefighters were called to reports of a dangerous structure and unsafe roof tiles on Bexhill Road in St Leonards.

Crews from Bohemia Road fire station attended the scene.

A large area of roof felting had come loose due to the high winds.

We contacted police to request the closure of the A259.

The weather is being monitored as it has been too windy for crews to safely secure the roof of the property. A re inspection is due at 9.30am.

There are no reports of injuries.
