Check your chimneys - warning after three incidents in 24 hours

With the weather getting chillier again, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people to check their chimneys before lighting fires to keep warm.

It follows three incidents in the last 24 hours:
  • At 18:10,  firefighters from Wadhurst were called to a pub in Ticehurst to reports of a chimney fire.
  • Firefighters from Hastings - The Ridge attended a home in Fairlight at 20.24 on 24 March 2014 following reports of a small fire in a woodburner.
  • At 21.58, firefighters from Heathfield were sent to reports of a chimney fire at a cottage in Cade Street.
There are no reports of injuries from any of the incidents however people with open fires are being urged to make sure they read our advice:
