Fire in North Quay, Newhaven



On 21st April at 17.26, crews responded to an incident at a commercial premise in North Quay, Newhaven.

The fire was in a large single storey building and approx. 100 cubic metres of rubbish was alight.

Crews from Newhaven, Seaford, Roedean and Lewes responded. The Aerial Ladder Platform from Preston Circus was also mobilised and then stood down.

At the height of the incident crews used four breathing apparatus, three ground monitors and two main jets. Crews pumped water from the river Ouse to extinguish the blaze.

The stop message was received at 19.48. Crews from Lewes returned later that evening to damp down. A further inspection took place at 07.00 on 22nd April.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
