Strike update – halfway point in 24 hour walkout

Contingency crews will remain on duty throughout the night while members of the Fire Brigades Union continue their 24 hour-long walkout.

The industrial action began at 9am on 12 June and will end at 9am on 13 June 2014

It’s part of the national dispute over pensions.

Contingency crews will respond to life-threatening emergencies but members of the public are being urged to take extra care as cover is reduced.

As of 21.00 we have attended the following:
•A motorbike fire in Brighton – crews put out the fire
•A small fire in the open in Seaford
•Fire in house in Bexhill – crews wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel put out a fire which caused damage to the loft space.

We also assisted West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service on a Road Traffic Collision call at Southwick.

A further update will be published on our website after 9am.
