The severe weather in the Brighton & Hove area this morning is clearing up and is now moving away.
The Sussex Control Centre, which takes emergency calls for both East and West Sussex Fire & Rescue Services received around 300 calls within a few hours this morning. A further 60 calls were passed to Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service as part of our emergency resilience arrangements.
Most of the calls involved rain water effecting electrical systems. Many calls were received regarding lightning strikes and crews also responded to a large number of automatic fire alarm systems activating due to the adverse weather conditions.
Worthing train station is still effected by localised flooding, but the line remains open.
