Lightning strike at clock tower in Crowborough

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called at 16.50 on 11 August 2014 to reports of a lightning strike in Crowborough.

It had hit the clock tower above the Factory Shop on the High Street.

Crews from Crowborough, Mayfield, Wadhurst and Brighton attended the scene.

On arrival, there was no obvious sign of an ongoing fire. A thermal imaging camera was used to check.

The aerial ladder platform from Brighton was used to survey for damage and remove loose debris.

A building control officer also attended and the incident was handed over to contractors.
