An hour long strike by members of the Fire Brigades Union has ended and normal cover has been resumed at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
Contingency crews were on duty between 22.59 and 23.59 on 9 August 2014, responding to emergencies. We attended two incidents in the Eastbourne area - reports of flooding affecting electrics and a small fire in the open (a "for sale" sign) which was out on arrival.
Further strikes will take place between noon and 2pm and 22.59pm and 23.59pm every day up to and including Saturday 16 August. The industrial action is part of the ongoing dispute with the Government over pensions.
Weather warnings are in place for Sunday 10 August and members of the public are being urged to be especially careful on the roads and prepare for heavy rain.
