Normal cover resumes after 2 hour FBU strike

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has resumed normal cover following a two hour strike by members of the Fire Brigades Union.

FBU members are taking industrial action every day from 9 August until 16 August 2014 from noon until 2pm and 10.59pm until 11.59 pm.

It is part of the ongoing dispute with the Government over pensions.

Cover is reduced during these strike periods with contingency crews on duty, prioritising 999 calls where lives may be at risk.

Between noon and 2pm today (9 August) we attended:
  • a call about glass on scaffolding in Polegate in a precarious position
  • a call to people stuck in a lift in Eastbourne
  • a request to assist the ambulance service
Lifts reminder
We are reminding businesses and property owners that if they have lifts in their buildings, they should ensure they have the contact details of an on-call lift engineer and instructions inside the lift so people know what to do if it breaks down.
