Operations scaled down at garage fire

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 16.04 today (27 August) to reports of a fire at a garage on May Road in Brighton.

At the height of the incident, firefighters used 14 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel, 2 main jets and firefighting foam.

Crews from Hove, Roedean, Preston Circus and Barcombe attended the scene, as well as the Control Unit from Bexhill.

One member of the public suffered minor burns and was left in the care of the ambulance service.

An adjoining domestic building was also affected by the fire.

As of 19.30, the incident was being scaled down from six fire engines to three.

Crews have spent time cutting away and damping down.

UK Power are also in attendance.
