East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has returned to normal cover following a short strike by members of the Fire Brigades Union as part of the national pensions dispute.
Contingency crews were on duty between noon and 2pm today (10 August) and we attended a car fire in Plumpton.
FBU members will walk out again tonight at 22.59 until 23.59, then there will be strikes throughout the week. These will take place between noon and 2pm and 22.59 and 23.59 every day, up to and including Saturday 16 August.
With resources reduced during strike periods, the Service is urging the public to take extra care and spread the word among friends, family and neighbours to do what they can to prevent emergencies.

If you do have a fire, get out, stay out and call 999. We have crews who will respond to emergencies, prioritising calls where lives may be at risk.
