Firefighters tackle burning straw bales in Peacehaven

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 15.33 yesterday 1 September 2014 to reports of bales of straw alight in a field.

Crews from Newhaven and Seaford went to the scene off Cissbury Avenue in Peacehaven.

They confirmed 200 metres of straw bales were alight.

The Service used two specialist four-by-four vehicles to help tackle the fire. Local farm machinery and beaters were also used.

Firefighters spent time damping down and turning over to ensure the fire was out, leaving the scene around 19.15.
