Investigation underway following fire at derelict building in Hastings

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called today (27 October 2014) at 16.47 to reports of smoke coming from a derelict building in Hastings.

Crews attended the site of the old Hastings College on Archery Road and confirmed there was a fire on the fifth floor of a tower block building.

At the height of the incident six fire engines were at the scene. The aerial ladder platform was used to providing lighting. Eight breathing apparatus were used along with main jets to put the fire out.

The cause of the fire is now being investigated. No further updates are expected this evening.
