Lewes Bonfire Celebration less than a month away

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service works with Sussex Police, Lewes District Council and other partners each year to prepare for Lewes Bonfire Celebrations.
This event is meant for the residents of Lewes only and the wider Sussex community are asked to attend bonfire events closer to home. Attendees are reminded that this event is not suitable for children and pets.

On 5 November 2014 on street parking will be suspended on certain streets in the town from 3pm and certain roads will be closed from 5pm until 3am.   Local roads and railway stations will be heavily congested.  Vehicles must be removed from these routes or risk being towed away if they are not.  If you have a parking permit and need assistance on alternative parking locations for the evening please contact The Parking Shop, Causeway House, Wellers Yard, 46 – 48 Malling Street. BN7 2RH.  Any vehicles that remain will be towed from 4pm.

Please refer to the Lewes District Council website ( for details on road closures.

For the first time, this year one of the busiest bonfire sites, the Waterloo fire site at Malling Brooks, will be a paid for event. This may cause further congestion and queues; for those wishing to attend access to the site is via Brooks Road.

Finally, Sussex Police would like to remind anyone attending that the throwing of fireworks in the street will not be tolerated and will be dealt with robustly.
