Public urged to take extra care cooking during ongoing strike action

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is warning against complacency during a four day strike by members of the Fire Brigades Union.

They are taking industrial action as part of a dispute over pensions with the Government.

The latest strike action began at 6pm on 31 October 2014 and continues until 6pm on 4 November 2014.

Contingency crews are on duty responding to emergencies but the number of crews available is reduced.

As of 6pm on 1 November, we had attended a small number of incidents including two lift rescues and a car fire. 

There have also been a number of false alarms, including several linked to over heated food. 

Members of the public are being reminded to take extra care cooking and to only ring 999 if it is a real emergency.
