Firefighters rescue fox stuck down sewage tank

Crowborough crews were mobilised to assist with the rescue of a fox trapped in a 20ft sewage tank.

Two crews from Crowborough were sent at 2.30pm yesterday (1st December) to Whitegates Lane, Wadhurst, which included the animal rescue unit, known as the uni-mog.

This is a purpose-built Mercedes fitted with a hydraulic crane, capable of lifting farm animals from open water and ditches.

It took firefighters until 4.12pm to lift the animal to safety with the assistance of a dog grasper, which is a piece of equipment that has a noose on the end, often seen being used to retrieve dangerous dogs.
