Crowborough’s specialist Animal
Rescue Unit was called upon to assist an elderly horse after it became stuck
halfway down a bank in Wannock.
The unit includes an off-road
Land Rover, as well as a purpose-built Mercedes four-by-four Unimog off-road appliance,
designed to provide assistance with animal rescues. This is fitted with a
hydraulic crane capable of lifting farm animals from open water and ditches.
The team worked alongside
Eastbourne firefighters to bring the horse to safety at 7.38am this morning (18th
February).
