Specialist crews assist after boy falls 30 feet over cliff

At 12.33pm on Saturday afternoon (31 January 2015) East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were requested by South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) to provide assistance at West Hill Rocks, Hastings, where a 12 year old boy had fallen approximately 30 feet over a cliff.

A fire crew from Hastings, and rope rescue teams from Battle and Bexhill were mobilised to the incident. The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) also attended the scene, in Castle Hill Road. 

The rope rescue team assisted the ambulance service to rescue the boy, carrying him up the hill to receive immediate medical attention before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Fire crews left the scene at around 1.25pm.
